On Saturday, October 3, over 250 superfans, supporters and spectators converged on Chicago entertainment complex WhirlyBall (1825 W. Webster, Chicago, IL) for a night of fun and friendly competition as Chicago Fire star Joe Minoso hosted the Inaugural WhirlyCruz Cup. The star-studded event kicked off with an epic WhirlyBall battle between the casts of NBC’s hit shows Chicago Fire and Chicago PD in which two teams of five players in bumper cars use hand-held scoops to pass a whiffle ball to each other – and ultimately at a scoring target. In the end, Chicago PD reigned supreme, taking home the coveted WhirlyCruz Cup.

At the event, guests were able to mix and mingle with members of both casts including Chicago Fire stars Joe Minoso, David Eigenberg, Jesse Spencer, Randy Flagler, Yuri Sardarov, Monica Raymund, Eammon Walker, Brian White, Steven McQueen, Tony Ferraris, and Christian Stolte, and Chicago PD studs Jesse Lee Soffer, LaRoyce Hawkins, Patrick John Flueger, Brian Geraghty, Sam Hunt and Chicago Med’s Nick Gehlfuss and Brian Tee, in addition to real-life first responders and members of the Chicago police and fire departments.

All proceeds from the event benefitted the 100 Club of Chicago which provides for the families of first responders who have lost their lives in the line-of-duty.
