I am starting this new page where I will inform you about some of the events that happen in Chicago on the weekends. There are a lot of events lined up for this weekend because many people are getting a day off for Martin Luther King day. Below is the list of events this weekend:
Friday, January 17th
The Chicago Boat, Sports and RV Show is now open at McCormick Place. The indoor festivities include hands-on demonstrations of diving and paddle sports plus an antique and classic boat display. The show is open through Monday. (Admission is $10 in advance.) For more details, click HERE!
The 29th annual Cubs convention at the Sheraton Hotel downtown where you can meet coaches, players and broadcasters at autograph or photograph sessions and interactive exhibits. This year marks Wrigley Field’s 100th birthday so you’ll get a peek at the planned celebrations. Clark, the new Cubs mascot, also will be in attendance. For more details, click HERE!
Another treat for Cubs’ fans: former Cubs pitcher Kerry Wood and his wife Sarah will be hosting the third annual Woody’s Winter Warm-Up Celebrity Mixer at Harry Caray’s at Navy Pier tonight. Proceeds from this event benefit the Wood Family Foundation to help children around Chicago. Celebrity guests include local media personalities and athletes. I’ll be one of the guest bartenders! Saturday, January 18th
Auditions are coming to town this weekend for NBC’s popular singing competition The Voice! Casting calls will be held tomorrow and Sunday at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont. Producers will be looking for solo artists and duos. For more details, click HERE!
Sunday, January 19th
The 10th Annual Martin Luther King Celebration Concert will be held at the Music Institute of Chicago in Evanston featuring jazz and gospel music. For more details, click HERE!
Monday, January 20th
There will be a FREE one-woman show at the Chicago History Museum, “The MLK Project: The Fight for Civil Rights.” For more details, click HERE!
