Jena Friedman got her start in comedy in the city of Chicago after graduating from Northwestern. In the three years after college, she spent her time honing her comedy skills in venues like The Hideout, and co-founded the renowned monthly show ENTERTAINING JULIA at Town Hall Pub before handing it off to colleague and fellow comedian, Beth Stelling and co.

Friedman has had an exciting string of recent events and releases, as one of the Colbert Election Special panelists, co-star of UNDECIDED the movie, and of course the release of her hour of comedy taped at the Slipper Room in NYC, American Cu*t which Paste Magazine named one of the Top 10 Comedy Specials of 2016. The special was subsequently released as an album, garnering acclaim from Flavorwire, Splitsider, NYLON and more. Friedman is also poised to direct her debut film, Serial Dater starring Imogen Poots, Timothy Simons and John Cho (Variety).

Jena Friedman’s album version of her hour-long special was released on Inauguration Day, on iTunes. The album and special deliver a probing examination of feminism and the U.S. body politic. Taped in August, before the Fall of America, Friedman’s special immortalizes the insanity of the 2016 election as well as being female in America… while women still had hope. Though the election is over, the sentiments are evergreen and useful and will remain so throughout “Trump’s America.”

Jena Friedman is a stand up comedian, actor, writer and filmmaker. She is currently a correspondent for National Geographic Explorer and has worked as a field producer at The Daily Show with Jon Stewart and has written for Late Show with David Letterman. American C*nt, is now available on Seeso and Amazon, and and on iTunes as an album.

Praise For Jena Friedman’s Recently-Released Hour Special American C*nt

“… please do get this album so you can enjoy Jena Friedman’s whip smart comedy as well as revisit a more hopeful time.” -The Comedy Bureau

“New York-based comedian Jena Friedman’s American Cunt is a hilariously sharp, somewhat depressing hour of political comedy with an unapologetically feminist stance.” -Flavorwire

“Jena Friedman is scared for us, and rightly so. But, fortunately, the comedian and former Daily Show producer is offering up some laughs for those of who could use a some a dose of humor with her new comedy special, American Cunt, now available to stream on Amazon.” -Ms. Magazine

“The provocatively-titled American Cu*t is a powerful set of material. It’s rife with fiercely and unapologetically feminist material that worries openly how a healthy portion of our electorate “would rather see a tweeting asteroid crash into our country than let a woman lead it.” I hope that historians use American Cunt as a kind of running commentary about the weird and wonderful time we’re currently living in, cutting between this electoral insanity and Friedman’s cutting remarks about it in one glorious and hilarious montage sequence.” -Paste

“Many will be protesting, while others have opted to seek refuge in whatever literal or figurative blanket forts they can assemble. No matter what your plans are, I’d like to throw another option into the ring: Jena Friedman’s newest album American Cunt, available today on iTunes.” -Splitsider

“Friedman, a vicious defender of women’s rights her entire career (which included stints writing for The Daily Show with Jon Stewart and Late Show with David Letterman), and vocal Trump critic, sees her role for the next four years as very specific: “I want to be the part of the yarn you dangle in front of the cat to distract him from activating the nuclear launch codes.”” -Vogue
