The Illinois Institute of Art—Schaumburg Student Run Fashion Show Will Benefit the Midwest Shelter for Homeless Veterans

SCHAUMBURG, IL, Feb. 3, 2016 – The Event and Fashion Show Production class of The Illinois Institute of Art— Schaumburg will present their annual fashion show, which will embody the theme of Transform. This event will take place on Thursday, March 10, 2016 from 7-9 pm at The Meadows Club located at 2950 W Golf Road in Rolling Meadows, IL 60008. Tickets will be sold for $25 for general admission, $65 for VIP, and $15 for students with a valid ID. There will be an early access at 7 pm for VIP guests to enjoy cocktails and appetizers. Doors will open at 7:15 pm for the general public.

Have the opportunity to experience a student run fashion event with original Illinois Institute of Art—Schaumburg Student designs, live music, a silent auction of gift baskets, and an art gallery where a portion of the earnings will be added to the donation proceeds going towards the Midwest Shelter for Homeless Veterans.

This year’s theme of Transform represents the evolution of society with new technologies and advancements. Transform 2016 will focus on the progression in fashion and how much the industry has changed with the use of reinvention, sustainability, and innovation.

The “Pulse Presents – Transform” fashion show is run entirely by the Event and Fashion Show Production students, along with the help of peers from other programs. The students work throughout the quarter to create an aesthetically pleasing and exciting experience for attendees of the event. They do everything from choosing the theme, the staging, the models, the hair and makeup, the styling, managing the budget, fundraising, and informing the public about the event through different medias. All of the efforts and proceeds made from the fashion show will go to the Midwest Shelter for Homeless Veterans. The Midwest Shelter for Homeless Veterans is a local organization that focuses on providing veterans and their families with a place to live and providing services to improve self-efficiency.

The Illinois Institute of Art – Schaumburg has hosted its annual fashion show for the past eight years, benefitting several different local charities. The past four fashion shows have varied in themes; the show in 2012 was Raw Beauty Fashion Show benefitting Stepping Stones of Roselle, 2013 was Awakening Fashion Show benefitting Women at Risk (WAR), 2014 was Pulse Presents – Prism benefitting Salute Inc., and last year’s show was Pulse Presents – Exposed benefitting 360 Youth Services. The Event and Fashion Show Production class was able to raise $10,000 for 360 Youth Services last year and raised an even higher amount the previous year with $18,000 for Salute Inc.

Biography

The Illinois Institute of Art – Schaumburg has hosted its annual fashion show for the past eight years, benefitting several different local charities. The past four fashion shows have varied in themes and benefiters. In 2012, the fashion show was titled Raw Beauty Fashion Show, which benefitted Stepping Stones of Roselle. In 2013, the students named their show Pulse Presents – Awakening Fashion Show, which benefitted the non-profit organization Women at Risk (WAR). Aside from the thirteen Fashion Design students and three alumni’s who showcased their work for the show there were also two Chicago based designers, Victor Miller and Horacio Nieto, who were featured in Awakening. The following year of 2014 was Pulse Presents – Prism, which benefitted Salute Inc. The show’s theme represented the essence of going from darkness and into light. During the final collection of Prism, the models were escorted by Marines to pay tribute to the non-profit organization Salute Inc. That year the Event and Fashion Show Production class was able to raise $18,000 for Salute Inc. The most recent fashion show of 2015, Pulse Presents – Exposed, benefitted the Naperville based organization 360 Youth Services. Exposed began its show with an opening number of a poet who did spoken word, while a dance crew performed mid-show for intermission. The Event and Fashion Show Production class of 2015 was able to raise $10,000 for 360 Youth Services. This annual event has been an outlet for fashion students to gain experience in the fashion industry, getting a feel of what it takes to run a fashion show, and having a platform to apply their creativity into. Not only has this event benefited the Fashion Marketing students, but it has also been a way for Fashion Design students to showcase their individuality and original designs to the public.
