Last night the Chicago Humanities Festival and the Poetry Foundation presented “Off the Shelf” with James Franco and poet Frank Bidart. It was a really fantastic evening and I learned not only a lot about poetry but also about James. He’s an amazing actor and poet! He also played a short film he directed based on one of Frank Bidart’s poems, Herbert White. I was most impressed when James spoke about all the schooling he has been through and what he learned.
