My Tour of the Factory Where the Emmy and Oscar Awards are Made

Did you know the Oscar and Emmy awards are made right here in Chicago? I had a really cool experience last week where I got a tour of the factory where it happens! The factory is off of Elston in Chicago and is called RS Owens. They have been producing the Emmy and Oscar Awards since 1983. They also make several other awards for things like Nascar and American Idol. The first step is liquid zinc is poured into a mold.

Then, once the zinc cools, it’s taken out of the mold.

Then it’s dipped in copper and all other types of metals until it becomes the finished product!
