Join Mayor Rahm Emanuel, talk show host Jimmy Fallon and 3,000 Chicagoans as they take the Polar Plunge this weekend at North Avenue Beach.  Sunday morning they’ll be jumping into the icy waters of Lake Michigan — some even in a suit and tie — to benefit Special Olympics.

Also, who hasn’t heard about the big transformation of Soldier Field this weekend — it’s been turned into an ice rink for the Chicago Blackhawks to play the Pittsburgh Penguins tomorrow night. Game starts at 7 o’clock and if you were lucky enough to get tickets, be sure to bundle up!

Comedian Wayne Brady from the improv tv show “Who’s Line is it Anyway,” is  bringing his “It’s My Line Tour” to the Chicago Theater tonight.  He’ll sing, dance and, of course, do some improvision.

Catch “Chicago, the Musical” at the Bank of America Theater this weekend.  The Tony-Award-winning razzle-dazzle show tells the story of fame and fortune, featuring one show-stopping song after another.

And as everyone prepares for St. Patrick’s Day, the Chicago Irish Film Festival gets underway this weekend with a wide selection of Irish feature films, documentaries and shorts —  from the classics to the contemporary —  at the Music Box Theatre and the Gallery Theatre.

In honor of Fat Tuesday coming up, Bennison’s Bakery in Evanston will host its Fifth Annual Paczki Eating competition tomorrow.  Individuals and teams will be trying to eat as many paczki’s as possible in five minutes.

And finally, The Oscars are Sunday evening.  Tune in to see if your favorite movies from the year will take home any awards.  Viewing parties are happening all over the city — from “A Night on the Red Carpet” at Morton’s in Rosemont to Hollywood on State Street at the Gene Siskel Film Center.
