There has been a lot of negative in the news this last week (which could be an entire blog post on its own), but I felt lucky enough to escape the bad news for a little while and spend some time with my mom in Toronto, Canada for the Fourth of July holiday.
I found Toronto to be fascinating. What struck me was how Toronto seems to draw influence from lots of other cities. The drive in reminded me of Miami, some areas reminded me of downtown LA, another section of the city reminded me of New York, from the water you felt like you might be looking at the Chicago skyline. Some parts even reminded me of the rolling hills I saw when I was in Kraków, Poland last summer!
My mom and I had some nice bonding time as we drove the eight hours to enter the country. Not sure why, but I was nervous crossing the border! It was drama free, but I I didn’t feel like I could breathe easy until we passed the guard 🙂 Some highlights of the trip included seeing a Blue Jays baseball game (the Jays scored 18 runs), eating on top of the CN Tower (oh hi Drake), laying out on Woodbine Beach and of course Niagara Falls! I’ve never seen anything like it! The Falls are about an hour outside Toronto and they are gorgeous. There are other waterfalls in the world that are taller, but they say the huge amounts of water Niagara Falls carries is what makes it special. We took a tour behind the Falls as well which you can see in some of my pictures. Afterwards, we explored a butterfly sanctuary nearby. I was actually a little creeped out. Lol. Some of the butterflies reminded me of moths and gave me the jitters. It was still cool nonetheless. As a sidenote, you really do hear Canadians use “Eh?” all the time! We got a kick out of it.
Have you ever been to Toronto? What were your favorite parts? Let me know your thoughts in the comments section! In the meantime, enjoy my pics!
